The outline of this Monterey Pine, a common sight in the West, is silhouetted against an early winter sunset over Monterey Bay. Late fall and winter is the time when the evening fog seldom obscures the coast in northern California, and when jet stream shifts bring in cloud formations and storm fronts off the Pacific. So evening  painted skies like this are common. Locals  stroll along these Aptos cliffs to enjoy the salt air and sea breezes while soaking in the last of the day.
