Up

There is something about the English lake district that persuades thousands to hike miles along tracks like this. Perhaps it is the vast open vistas where trees are rarely seen, but mountains and often lakes beckon from a distance. It is certainly peaceful with the only sounds being being the wind, the birdlife, and of course the ever-present sheep. This is the path from Patterdale to Grasmere, that winds its way down to where Wordsworth had his cottage home. Grasmere is about 5 miles from here.
