Up

The River Soar, in Constable country, is now a peaceful waterway, though in the early 19th century is was a busy navigation route for agricultural produce to move to the cities of Suffolk and the south of England. Today's visitor will find plenty of backwaters with waterfowl such as grebes, coots, moorhens, geese, and swans. It is interesting that though much of England became heavily industrialized, the once busy farmlands and waterways have reverted to a lifestyle that in terms of activity level is more like the middle ages than the 21st century.
