The merging of sea and sky is almost complete in this sepia-like image of the Aptos Creek outlet. A darkened winter sky briefly opens to permit a sunlight path across the oily sea/creek interface. The drama of this image is reinforced by silhouettes of the gulls that frequently gather to whirl above the confluence.
