Up

Mid-way between Dublin and Galway this is one of the largest of Ireland’s loughs. A boating and fishing spot for tourists and for the people of nearby Athlone, the lough is characteristic of the scenery created by the frequent rains in this part of the country. These rains are also responsible for the intense greens of the region that provide spectacular shots of the emerald isle when the sun comes out.
