Mirror Lake, in Yosemite Park, sits within a bowl of the most impressive monoliths in the Valley, including Half Dome. Located in Tenaya canyon, the creek flows out to join with Merced Creek further down Yosemite Valley. This picture is taken by most of the constant stream of visitors to this remarkable corner of the valley. Mirror Lake is a small pond today but is gradually working its way back to a meadow as riverborn sediment fills Tenaya canyon. At times of heavy snowfall, such as in 2005, as many as 12 waterfalls cascade down the surrounding cliffs. |
